Hello, you 🙂

It’s really nice to see you here. I am Maya Kalico (aka Mayara Caldas).

At the time I’m typing this hello world post, I’m living in Niterói, a city of Rio de Janeiro – Brazil. As the full latina I am, I love colors, nature motifs, flowers, animals and people. Here, I work with children illustration, production of books and my stationery shop “Seja Etérea” (Be ethereal) where I can play and have fun with my passion of creating pattern designs and producing things by hand.

I always loved to explore my creativity, doing lots of different art related stuff. I know how to sew (the 2022 resolution is to sew my own clothes… still working on this lol), I know a lot of different bookbinding methods, I paint with different medias, love clay and papier maché. I just have this need to be in movement, to put (literally) my hands to work.

Decided to create this blog to document my new studies and productions, hoping that I may also estimulate somebody to be a little artsy on the daily life. Instagram is THE place right now, but I don’t feel it have the space I need to share everything and it don’t have this “drinking with my friends in my living room” feeling that the blog have.
